WINDOWS VOLUME CONTROLS

THE PROBLEM:

A web site may contain digital video and audio files that, when played, have very low volume. No matter how much you turn up the volume control on your computer's speakers or turn up the volume controls built into the QuickTime, RealMedia or Windows Media Players, the sound level is still too low.

There are several internal settings on your Windows computer which may need to be adjusted in order to boost the audio levels of the video and audio files.

The following instructions will guide you through the steps necessary to adjust these internal volume settings.

Open the VOLUME CONTROL application for your computer. You can find it using several different methods.

METHOD 1:
From the TASK BAR, select START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>SOUNDS AND MULTIMEDIA.

A window called SOUNDS AND MULTIMEDIA PROPERTIES will open.

Select the tab labeled AUDIO.

In the SOUND PLAYBACK options, select the VOLUME BUTTON.

The various volume controls for your computer will appear.

Make sure they are all raised to almost the highest level. If the volume control for the "WAVE" section is low, your video and audio files will always play back with low volume.

METHOD 2:
From the TASK BAR, select START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES.

Depending on your Windows Operating System you may select:

ACCESSORIES>ENTERTAINMENT>VOLUME CONTROL
or
ACCESSORIES>MULTIMEDIA>VOLUME CONTROL

Either way a VOLUME CONTROL window will appear.

Make sure they are all raised to almost the highest level. If the volume control for the "WAVE" section is low, your video and audio files will always play back with low volume.
